This poem is a reflection of what it was like when you were a little kid. Through this poem, you feel as though you are taking a step back, and reminicing about all of the fun summers that you had when you were back in grade school. Looking back on them now, it was like I was living in a entirly different world. I did feel like I was cut off from all other civilization, except for my relatives. Even though this peom is small, it has a lot of meaning, and I think that a lot of people could reflect back to their past with just reading the first line. I know that when I was a kid, I was not always worring if I would get hurt. If I made a careless move on my scooter, and ended up scratching myself on the pavement, it would not matter, because I wanted to have more fun. My friends and I would always have contests to see who could climb the tallest trees, go the farthest on your bike, and see who could pull off the coolest trick jumping off of the diving board, at the neighborhood swimming pool. I could be so consumed of all of the fun that I was having, that I would rarely complain about what I did not get to do. Those summers were a time of relaxation, a time that seemed to never end, and a time of greatness. It did not matter what we were doing just as long as it was entertaining and not boring. Those were the good old days, and I think that everyone has a story to tell about them. Those were the times of imagination, and this is why this simple little peom explains it all.

Some people are enthusiastic for water fluoridation while others have their own mixed feelings. During the mid- 1980s there was a shortage of HFS because of a severe fertilizer industry downturn. Today experts say that Water-treatment-grade sodium fluoride, is extremely popular with your everyday small and medium sized water filters because they are very easy to maintain. The experts also state that Los Angelos began their system just a few years ago, but that more than 50 cities still haven’t switched to the fluoridation of water. Looking at this great website that’s called 50 reasons to oppose fluoridation, I found many facinating points. For instance, they say that fluoridation is not a nessecity, and our teeth are just fine with out fluoride. They also state that there hasn’t been a disease that has linked to a fluoride deficiency. According to the Food and Drug Administration, they have never officially approved Fluoride as a safe or dangerous product. Another fun fact is that children can actually have an overdose of fluoride. Fluoride contains matallic ions which include metals which our bodies need, and it also contains other metals that can be toxic to our bodies. Scientists in Washington conclude, “We feel that fluoridation is an unreasonable risk. The toxcity of fluoride is so great and the purported benefits associated with it are so small-if there are any at all- that requiring every man, women and child in America to ingest it, borders on criminal behavior on the part of governments.” http://www.fluoridealert.org/50-reasons.htm Well in my opinion, I’m not so sure about the whole fluoridating our water systems. Reading this article makes me think that it really isn’t that safe, and I not sure if I would want to be that one to take the risk. If we fluoridated our water, would that mean that we wouldn’t have to brush our teeth as much as we already do to keep them white and healthy? My answer to fluoridating our water would be no, because, why would I want to take a risk when there could be serious side-effects. What I mean is that I would probably brush my teeth as much as I already do. Some of the technological advances include the sensitive formulas for sensitive teeth and damaged gums. Some companies changed the bottle so that consumers would think of it more attractive, so it must be better, so they would pay more money for it. Some companies went with a clear mouthwash like Listerine Mint, because consumers somehow think that, “Clear is enviornmentally better.” http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3374/is_n7_v16/ai_15355459So By finding out how to change the color of the mouthwash, and still keeping the flavors giving the comsumers fresh breath, the sales would most likely rise. So these are just some examples of what new tecghnological advances could help companies. Early in the 1950s an independent company launched itself with the name Crest. They had a succesful combination of stannous fluoride, and calcium phyrophosphate. One of the new tecnological ways of making toothpaste is to combine the fluoride with its compatible abrasive. Also sodium fluoride is the leading brand, and it sold millions just switching to a gel which is a hydrated silica abrasive. There are some side effects which pertains to small children. Occasionally small children that use fluoride, might have tooth staining. So basically this is called fluorosis. In recent studies there seems to be no tremendous side effects. As I have read through various articles, I do have some concerns with the fluoridating our water. I like our water the way it is and I enjoy brushing my teeth. Would it cost more if we switched to fluoridated water, and would it better or worse? Another side affect is that the industry of the fertilizer that is in the fluoridated water is going extremely slow at the moment. So if we switched then would we be guarenteed to have our water fluoridated all the time, or would it just come on, on and off? Also, if we switched then would our teeth become sensitive to cold things and other foods? These are just some of the examples of questions that I have if we were to switch to fluoridating our water. To be on the positive side fluoridating our water could be benificial in some ways. For instance, fluoride does stop the harmful bacteria that is in your stomach, and mouth that could eat your insides. Also fluoridating prevents cavities. So in conclusion, there are many pros and cons to fluoridating our water.
